Text Box: IMMUNIZATIONS AND HEALTH EXAMS

EXAMS: Many people believe the main reason to bring your pet in once a year is to administer vaccines… WRONG! Vaccines a tool of preventive medicine, what begins the process is the annual examination. It is recommended to have a physical exam performed by a veterinarian on at least an annual basis. Jones Animal Hospital requires annual examinations of all pet species in order to prevent or treat many on-going health problems and in order to be in compliance of WSVMA guidelines. Many other pet species do not require annual vaccines, however, in order to perform any other services (nail or wing trims), we will require an annual exam.
And, if you have not noticed, we feel so strongly regarding vaccination as a preventive care tool. When combined with your annual physical exam, we reward you by greatly discounting any pet vaccines your pet is due for.

Types of Exams: There are a number of exam types, based on your pet’s needs. For the pet owner, you may not even notice the difference, but we like to keep you informed just in case you hear our “lingo”.

Wellness exam: This is more than "just getting shots". A physical exam and consultation by one of our veterinarians could spot potential health concerns before they become a health problem. This exam is often referred to as an “annual”.

What is a drop off? We understand that your daily schedule may make it difficult to see your pet at a convenient time. Since some potential illnesses or concerns may need some time to perform the proper diagnostics or will need some observation time, we may ask you to “drop your pet off” during our extended daily hours. Our staff will make your pet as comfortable as possible and will begin any services or diagnostics suggested by the owners and Medical Staff. An initial daycare charge of $12.50 will apply in addition to examination/diagnostic fees.

After the examination and consultation, any diagnostic procedures, injections and/or vaccinations may be performed by one of our technicians and assistant medical staff members. Just like human medicine, the medical staff works closely with the Doctor to provide quality medical services. Subsequent visits for boosters will be scheduled with a Technician.
