Text Box: The basis of all good medicine begins with the examination. While everyone at Jones Animal Hospital is a true animal lover and want to help every pet in need, we are bound by many federal and state laws. Thus, the need to schedule your pet for an appointment.
Our relationship with pets has come along way, with most people now treating pets as family members, enjoying all the perks and responsibilities with the new status level. Just like your human family members, our pets can greatly benefit from annual health exams. And just like in human medicine, this has now become an expectation and requirement. Jones Animal Hospital requires an examination within one year of a service request.
Annual exams are an integral part of a preventive health program. While we pride ourselves in being able to provide service to you and your pet during an illness or injury, we would much rather provide healthcare services that prevent disease or injury.

Our appointments start at 9:00 a.m. We encourage you to call ahead for an appointment. While we are always ready to do our best to accommodate you as a walk-in, please keep in mind that we may be in surgery, at lunch, in-training, or seeing other previously scheduled appointments. Your wait could be longer than you anticipated. Therefore, for your convenience, please contact us first. This is especially important with exotic pets, as we wish to be ready to provide the specialty care they may require.

We ask that you consider leaving small children at home as we are not able to accommodate them during your visit.

We also ask that you silence or turn off cell phones when the exam begins. You want our full attention, so we simply ask for yours in return.

When you make an appointment, we hold that time for you. Arriving on time is important. It is quite possible that you may be the last appointment before a surgery, or the end of a shift. If you are late, we reserve the right to re-schedule your appointment. Should you arrive late and wish to wait, please be aware that we do not see appointments by the order they arrive, but by appointment time. If you are late, we will see those who arrive on time first.

What can I expect when I bring my pet in?

The heart of our veterinary relationship with your pet will begin with an Examination. At Jones Animal Hospital, we will perform a “Nose to Toes” examination on your first visit.

Upon arrival, you will find that your pet’s visit will not be unlike a human doctor appointment. You will be asked to check in. A first time appointment will require some basic paperwork to start a file for you. Once that is completed, we will begin to ask you questions about your pet.
If you are arriving for a medical examination or procedure, you will be asked to provide history. Please be prepared to provide any and all important information.
After the check in process, you and your pet will be escorted to an examination room. A team member will then prepare your pet for the examination by gathering further information from you as well as taking certain vital statistics.
An examination’s length of time varies. First time visitors may take some time, while some medical examinations may be brief in initial contact, but required diagnostics may lengthen the time commitment. Rest assured, we will spend the proper amount of time with your pet. If you have time restraints, please let us know as soon as possible.

Medical visits also can be difficult to gauge the time you will need to be involved. While the symptoms you describe when making the appointment may seem less involved, the examination may produce findings that require additional time.

Jones Animal Hospital reserve the right to charge clients who “no show” for scheduled appointments and will do so upon the second missed appointment.
